we have a six week old sugar glider that we bought from pocket pets. We read much material on sugar gliders and read much vet information as well as watch vet videos (certified in sugar glider care.)
We have bought his a wheel and done everything we are supposed to do about his diet and cage.
At first, I put him in a bonding pouch when I took him out and he was fairly satisfied with that.
My husband for a few weeks has been taking him out, depooping him like the videos show.
Then he holds him and pets him. Our sugar bear bites him all of the time and he does the thumb in the mouth recommended by the vet but it doesn't work.
He crabs all of the time when he is being held. He does put his hand over him and I just read from another post that this may be seen as intimidating but sometimes the sugar bear seems to like that.
He also lets the sugar bear run around under his outer shirt. Sometimes, the sugar bear won't crab as much sometimes he does.
It seems like he is crabbing more than less. Now, when my husband or my caregiver (I am ill) walk be his cage he will crab.
Also my husband puts nectar on his finger's which the sugar bear will lick off but turn around and bite him.
What should we should or should not be doing? Do we need to take him to the vet? Also, what is the normal length of time before sugar bears start usually bonding.
When we watched the vet videos, they said that bonding wouldn't take very long.
We watched all these people buyinig sugar bears at the same time as we did and I was wondering if they are having the same experience or not.
BTW our male is neutered.
Thanks,
Mermaid
