I am a new sugar glider owner. I have had my little guy for almost 3 weeks. I have notice that he has been circling the top of his cage. his ears seem to be down alot. I show him lots of attention. no less than 2 hours at night. I play with him and feed him meal worms and yogurt drops. he is comfortable when i am holding him. and during the day i let him sleep in his pouch for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours as he is on my chest or lap. He also sleeps alot. when i put him in his cage he usually goes directly into his house. and goes to bed. no matter the time. I got more toys and put them in and had to take them all out because he went crazy circling his cage. I took the ladder i got out and wrapped it in a dirty shirt so it didnt smell like the pet store and put it back in. he used it last night. I am going to slowly add the other toys. I do not know what to do. i am very very concerned. he has a large bird cage. it almost comes to my hip. I got him from a small pet shop that knows alot about sugar gliders and they gave me everyhitng to start off with. including the cage, so i do not think his cage is too small. PLEASE HELPPP ME!!!!
When I took my sugar to college he was constantly doing circles on the top of his cage in the car the whole way their. I also Noticed he did it while at school. I think it is a combination of a couple things. One, probably just exploring his new room/cage. Two, Nerves; I can only imagine how scary everything would look to them. Three, Do you have a wheel or something in his cage? If not this may be a form of exercise considering these little buggers get bored REALLY easily. I cant really think of any other reasons as to why he would be doing that. But if i do ill let you know. Hope this helps even though its a couple of months late lol. Ryan S.2010-04-28 20:20:28
