I was given 2 gliders and just recenlty the female had her joey, need help! I have been reading and preparing for uncared joeys, but need to know signs of parents not caring for their joeys. what do they eat? mh96152009-05-20 21:19:25
Mh9615,
Step 1!: Calm down. You are getting yourself all worked up, step back and think. Relate the Glider's situation to that of any other mammal who just had a baby.
There are many signs of a rejected joey, the common ones are spotting a joey away from it's nest, crying and cold but the parents don't respond to it. Scratches or bite marks anywhere on the body or face MAY be another indication of a rejected joey. You can also check to see if their belly's are full if they are really young. Hold them so their tummy is facing upwards, and examine it. If they have eaten recently you should see a large whitish area. =) Young joeys rely on their mother's milk until about 8-10 weeks OOP at which they are weaned and can be fed the same food as the parents. Up until that point, they nurse. =)
I definitely recommend calling Suz Enyedy (sugarglidersuz). She's WONDERFUL and very experienced. I've never dealt with a rejected joey "hands-on!" Suz has dealt with many of them and could tell you all the details you'll need to know. Are the parents it least responding when the joey is crying or are they totally ignoring it?
HUMANS are not alone in struggling to stay slim. Some planets go through a "fat" stage that swells their
waistlines temporarily, which possibly explains why some gas giants are unexpectedly large.
"Astronomers have power leveling found a lot of planets whose
sizes cannot be explained by standard theory," says Laurent Ibgui of Princeton University. The difference
between predicted and measured widths of so-called "hot Jupiters" can be 30 per cent or more.
Previously, astronomers assumed that, because cold gas takes up less volume than hot gas, hot Jupiters would
shrink as they lost their initial heat. wow power level Health Top Tips Nutrition Love Lifestyle Happiness Weight Loss Now a computer simulation by Ibgui suggests this effect can be temporarily halted in hot Jupiters that begin
life in highly elliptical orbits. These planets are alternately squeezed and stretched as they circle their
stars, resulting in "tidal heating" that warms the gas inside the planet. This counteracts the cooling
effect, inflating the planet - an effect that can last for a billion years or more. Eventually, though, the
planet's orbit will become more circular, and the hot Jupiter resumes shrinking. Ibgui presented the research
at an American Astronomical Society meeting in Pasadena, California, last week. world of warcraft power leveling The model doesn't quite explain the superpuffy appearance of all hot Jupiters, says Jonathan Fortney of the
University of California, Santa Cruz. "It requires these planets to start their lives on very eccentric
orbits, which is possible, but not currently the preferred scenario."
Donna,
I totally agree! Why didn't I think of that? Suz helped me with the first joey my Glider ever gave birth to. Unfortunately, it was orphaned and too young to make it! ='( Give Suz a call, she rocks!
