So i have a large bottle for my gliders, like an over sized hamster bottle, designed for larger mammal pets like guinea pigs and rabbits, etc. They don't seem to pay it much attention, so my roomy put a small bowl in the cage with some water and they went for it. I'm worried about the mess they might make if they turn the bowl over, but I'll deal with it if they ignore the bottle. What do you all think? Will they eventually fidn the bottle? Should I show it to them but putting them close and dripping some water from it? Or sick with the bowl?
Try a smaller version.I have a small hamster bottle and mine love it.I had a small, shallow bowl in the cage for a while until I was SAW them both using their new bottle. I even left the bowl in for a couple days after that. The first time i showed them the bottle when they were in their cage and they were too busy playing to know what it was. But they next day when they were sleeping in their bonding pouch I woke them up for an apple treat and put the tip of the bottle in there and they sniffed it and it dripped then they started to drink from it. They seemed more interested in it later that night in their cage. Just make sure u test it every night with your finger at the end to be sure water is coming out.
