Does anyone know where I can get some PVC coated mesh for building my gliders a cage? I've seen a lot of custom builds that use this rubber/plastic coated mesh, but no one says where to buy it lol. I've checked my local hardware stores (Lowes & Home Depot) and they don't carry it, so I'm at a loss. Please let me know, thanks.

i used a thick hardware cloth to make mine, its a REALLY thick plastic. i found it in the garden center at lowes where they keep fence and stuff. we made a huge cage for my 4 gliders 6ft long,7ft tall and 3ft wide. i plan on cutting it in half and down-sizing the width just enough to fit through my door. my boys and girls are seperated because the lil boy is not fixed.
Thanks for the info suggieluv. I saw something similar to what you mentioned but was worried that my gliders would chew through it, although what I found was not all that thick (only about the thickness of standard wire mesh). I'm looking at making a large cage, although not as large as yours, and the cost of Vinyl-Guard is a little expensive for my budget right now. Do you happen to remember what your material was called? i don't remember what it was called, but it was in a roll of 15ft for around 12-15.00 a roll. we had a hard time finding it as well they had it up pretty high. as for them chewing through it, i don't see it really happening. its some very thick stuff. i'll ask my husband when he gets home to see if he remembers and get back to you.
Thats great, I was hoping it was the right stuff. Another question is what did you use to join the sections of mesh together? I see most people used j-clips with wire mesh, but did you use anything different for the plastic mesh? Thanks againGlider Knuts2008-09-07 01:27:44

we used a lot of zipties! when brian came up with the design he made it so the width of the mesh would fall on the pvc pipes. he also used screws to keep it sturdy as well. if i knew how to post pictures on here you may be able to see what i'm talking about.
