i've had my suggar glider for 3 days now and today was the first day i tried putting her in the pouch. Afterwards all she does is crab constantly and only stop for like 2 secs. i tried calming her down with a treat but it doesn't work. Is that normal? Will she eventually stop if i don't do anything?
I got a 2 year old neutered male glider earlier last month and he is okay with me petting him but when I try to pick him up for any amount of time he crabs at me. I was told that maybe trying him in my bra would possibly calm that down is this true?
from my own experience and reading other people's testimonials, the "bra baby" thing works best if you do it from a young age, and seems to work better if you're the first owner the glider has had.
kat, my one and a half year old glider doesn't let me pick her up. whenver i would try to she would crab or try and nip me. so what i started getting her in the routine of doing was coming to me on her own terms, instead of me picking her up, when i open her door, i hold my arm out and she jumps on that and runs up to my shoulder or on top of my head.
my other gliders don't seem to mind getting picked up though. so i guess it just depends on the glider.
i felt it wasn't the right thing to do to push my glider to being picked up, and thought letting her come to me was the better choice.
try and show him fingers are friendly, and pursue trying to pick her up if you wish, but if you want, try and teach her to come out by jumping on your arm when you want to have play time
