Peeking in the cage pouch at momma glider she was cleaning his "parts" and I saw a little pee pee sticking out and a small sac. We will be keeping him and getting him fixed as soon as he can be. At what age is the best to get it done. I want it done as soon as possible and about how much does it cost? Will he have to wear an e-collar after the procedure and is there any special after care. We will be keeping him with his parents and dont want to breed him to my other females. He is still stuck to moms nipple and has fur on him. His tail is dark and his legs pink. He should be coming off the nipple soon and he is in and out of the pouch. I assume hes about 9 weeks IP.
They first release the nipple at around 40 days (from birth), so they're still IP at the time. I can't help with prices as I'm in the UK, but the neutering can be done from 10 - 12 weeks. I personally prefer the poms taken off completely, my boys have been done and home again within an hour. They go straight back in with their cage mates (to reduce stress), obviously you must keep an eye on him to check he's not opening the wound. I leave the cage exactly as it was, some people recommend you remove the wheel but I don't, it prevents boredom setting in, when bored they'll groom.
