I just put in an order today for a wheel the has interchangeable regular tract and nail trimming tract. I got the 8" one because I thought the 11" might take up too much space. But then I just read somewhere while looking at toys for my 2 little ones that the 8" is only used for travel? Should I have gotten the bigger one or will they be okay in this? I bought the Senior Wodent Wheel. Two....one with the track....one without. So I wouldn't have to take the track in and out all the time. But, Im thinking about buying a Stealth Wheel for the main wheel. It's open and easier to clean. The mess falls thru the wheel and doesn't get stuck in there with them... I will still keep the other Wodent Wheel with the track for nail trimmings.
I have two colonies of Sugar Gliders in two separate cages, and I have found that this policy works the best for me, however, you may or may not feel comfortably with it.
Both cages each have two Senior Wodent Wheels (one with the "Sandy Nail Trimmer" insert and one without). I did it for the same reason as WildJungle. Taking the track in and out every 2-3 days gets incredibly irritating after a while. This policy has worked for me. There are some negative sides to the Wodent Wheel. Injuries aren't unheard of and they can be quite loud at night. They are also relatively difficult to clean.
I am considering just purchasing four of the Stealth Wheels and making my life a whole lot easier. I have heard that they are quiet, cleanier, and whereas I don't think they are as attractive, they certainly seem to be worth the money!
If you are still looking for a wheel, consider investing in the Stealth Wheels now. I guarantee you will get very annoyed with the Wodent Wheels. I've used them for nearly two years now, and I regret not purchasing the Stealth Wheels instead. They had just come out when I first got my gliders, they were all the rave!
