I'm going to pick up 6 gliders tomorrow, 2 little glider families. It's going to be a 3 or 4 hour drive to Tampa, and I need to know what kind of enclosure I can safely keep them in for the ride, since I don't have any small glider cages.

What is the maximum width of the bars on a barred cage? I have a ferret cage, though I'm wondering if the bars would be too far apart for them, since both families each have a joey, though they are weaned.

I also have a cat carrier, with bars on the top and front. Would that be acceptable?

Should I put anything in the cages? They'll be in their pouches, but I don't want ANYTHING to go wrong, say they get scared in the car and come out while we're going 70 mph on the interstate and get under my feet while I'm driving?

Like I said, I need help on tips for transporting gliders, ASAP!

Thanks in advance!

you can keep them in pouches and can get some soft case travel carriers. maybe a medium sized one since you will have 6 in there... also a waterbottle. apple slices are good to bring just in case thay do wake up.. but if they are traveling during the day, they usually will sleep right through it.. make sure to keep the 2 families apart...

the max for cages should be 1/2in spacing.. and the biggest cage possible.. my cage for 2 is 5'x4'x6'.

the best rule is if they can fit their head through the bars then they can get through the bars.

What diet are they on?? the females need increased calcium and protein.

if you have any questions please feel free to call me 321-624-6531 or PM me.  I am in central FL if you need any help...

Any bars that are 1/2 inch apart are recommended for gliders.  Joeys heads can go through anything wider.  I travel with my gliders in their fleece bags if it isn't an all day trip.
