Hey,I have two handsome one year old gliders. I have a nice enclosure for them with lots for them to jump around and hang from with a running wheel etc. The question I have is what sort of toys etc. can i put inside that they would enjoy playing in/with without having anything that they can chew through or choke on?Thank-You!!Bradley,

Thanks!

I am new to this but my little guy loves straws.  Every few nights I stick them through some of his toys and he loves pulling them out.  He also likes cat balls with bell, but his favorite toys are the monkies from the game monkies in a barrel.  I hang them throught his cage from time to time and he likes them.  I hope your guys enjoy at least on of these.

I also want to try something I read a few days ago to use 100 lb fishing line tie a bell to one end string Cheerios on it and hang it in the cage.

Were you looking to purchase some toys or to make them yourself?

There are Many, many vendors that sell toys made specifically for sugar gliders.  I'm not sure if I can post links here, so if you would like a variety of links to vendors, PM me and I will get them to you.

As for making them yourself:  Be creative.  FLEECE can be used for SO many toys from braided vines to foraging toys to fleecy vines and wreath mobiles.  There are so, so many toys available.

Just keep in mind safety - Not only from chewing or choking, but also don't use toys that have spaces small enough for a toe to get caught or spaces where a tail could get caught or any part that may scratch or cut a glider.

I actually make plastic and fleece toys and sell them on ebay. My best piece of advice for toys would be to buy bird toys. They are usually hard plastic and suggies can't chew through as much. Stay away from elastic and things that could choke them. Try to stick with plastic and fleece. Check ebay out, there are tons of great deals and good toys. I know when I needed new toys that I didn't make myself I would go there!

Hmm, the straws are interesting. And the monkies from Monkies in a Barrel is great! I'm trying that tonight. We bought bird toys for our gliders. I think it's unusual that ours don't really play with anything. They have several assortments. I'll start picking more up.

My girls love to play with just about anything. And when I say anything, I pretty much mean it. They have a  cut up girl scout cookie box in there at the moment that they're having lots of fun with. Tagalongs, oh yum! One night I let them play with this Naruto cosplay headband that my friend decided I just "had to have." They thought the reflective surface was really fun. But really, any bird or small rodent toys seem to work. I've heard that Sugar Gliders love bells, but mine don't seem to show any preference towards them at all.

Yikes! I would never put fishing line with my suggies! They could get caught on it and possibly lose a paw or tail. Take a piece of that stuff wrap it around your finger once and pull both of the loose ends away from eachother and you'll see what I mean! The cherrio idea is great though. But I use a thin piece of fleece tapered smaller at one end to thread easier.
