Sugar Glider Central

Hello,
I'm new to owning a glider. I have a 9 week old who is adorable. I'm working on the bonding process and was curious about other people handling him. I don't get him out every where I go but I have family members that are excited about him as well and didn't know if other people carrying him about when I go for visits will hurt the bonding process. I'm careful who I let pick him up but the man I bought him from told me when he's out of the cage he should be on me. I wasnt sure if that was for safety reasons (getting in the floor for example) or for bonding reasons. Any help or tips are greatly appreciated!

I dont think others handling the critter will change how it reacts to you, so no to your question. However, letting others who are inexperienced at handling the miniature animal is a big risk. A simple mistake can end up in a disaster. Even just grabbing the glider and yanking off of clothing can rip its nails off or break limbs. When the animal bites someone for any of these reasons, all bets are off. A mean person could report it and the animal could suddenly be put down for rabies testing with no recourse on your part. Sugar gliders are not a "protected" animal in that as pets they can be taken and put down if posing any risk to others.
