Hi! So, I've been attempting to bond with Peaches (my newest glider addition) and things have been going... well... interestingly. We got her from a breeder who didn't handle her gliders pretty much at all. Some of them didn't have a pouch, and they had to burrow under newspaper! Some had a cage that was more like 12" by 12" by 12", much to small. (Luckily Peaches was in a fairly big cage with a pouch) I started bonding with her after I got her (and waiting a little bit, of course) but things still aren't going very well, after around a month. She's almost to the point where she won't crab when she hears me, and I'm able to stop her from crabbing when she hears my voice. She now has a much larger cage, with five levels, and loves running around in it. I just wanted some suggestions on what I can do to make her get used to me a little quicker. Also, am I doing everything right? She has several blankies with my scent on them in her pouches. Please help! Thanks!

P.S. I just might be impatient, when I started bonding with Sydney it only took her a couple of days to start getting used to us, yet again she came with a huge cage and had a loving breeder who only had 3 gliders, whereas Peaches came from a young girl with 10 gliders...

I've had all sorts of pets during my lifetime and now the two gliders. One thing I've noticed with all of them, including the gliders is that they're very much like us, no two alike, every one having a different personality, different fears, likes and dislikes. And it does sound like poor Peaches did not have the best of starts. I'm so glad she found her way to a loving home where she'll be cared for properly. I would say, keep doing what you're doing and one day soon you'll be rewarded.
