Sugar Glider Central

Hi! I just recently bought two 1 year old female sugar gliders and I've been trying all the things that they tell you to do but they just always shake and crab nonstop if I even put my hand by them.

I feed them by hand and I have all these pieces of fabric with my scents on them, I do tent time, and I talk to them as much as I can WHAT CAN I DO? I try to carry them around in their pouch but they crab and crab until I come to a complete stop and stand still for a moment. HELP ME!!!

how recently?? were they bonded to their previous owner?? were they tame??? Guess what it takes lots of time and patience. I would also like to suggest you go on over to glidercentral.net and read up in their bonding section, register and ask questions.................lots more people over there to help!

i am going through the same thing right now except my new suggie is only 13 weeks old out of pouch!!
she will sometimes let me tough her but thats it....
my other one gyzmo is perfectly content and ive had him for about 3 months
once gyzmo and mulan bond will she be more nicer to me or will it make the bonding process harder?/
i really just want her to like me

Try treats and giving them to your glider only when it is on you, it is very hard to get a glider to bond with you when it has not been held or ha very much attention before so be patient and who cares if the are crabbing mine yell at eachother all the time and then they share food, try small trips at first like just around the block and give them a treat, yogurt drops work well.

When they're in the pouch crabbing use our hand to hold them on the outside of the pouch. They feel more secure when they're cradled, stroked and talked to.

If mine get upset in the pouch, leaving them in the pouch I put them on one hand and put the other hand over them and almost, but not quite, squish them , they quiet right down and switch to their contented noise.

I also found that they don't like it when the pouch swings, like if I bend over and it swings away from my body so I use a safety pin and pin a corner of the pouch to my shirt so it doesn't move around so much. Also, putting the pouch under your shirt against your skin works well, it looks strange but they like it
