Animalluvr,
I can see that you have requested information on various topics, I applaud you for wanting to do research before making your first purchase. The food isn't too expensive, for the most part, a large portion of it is your basic meals. Please log on to www.thepetglider.com (The Pet Glider), they are a breeder in Houston, Texas. However, on the left hand side of her website click on the link that reads "Nutrition System". Here you will find the recipe for the only PROVEN Sugar Glider Diet that I recommend, The Priscilla Price Diet. Take a few moments to read through it. I freeze it in icecube trays to make serving a whole lot easier. You will probably be purchasing a pair of Gliders, so this is what you should feed them per night.

1 "Cube" of The Priscilla Price Diet (vary the flavors each night, you'll see what I'm talking about when you read the recipe. It makes two different flavors, chicken and egg.)

1 Tablespoon of Low-Fat, Real Fruit Flavored Yogurt. (I use a great yogurt called "Fruit on the Bottom", you stir it and it has real fruit pieces and juices. It is available at your local Publix. It comes in many flavors, which is good for variety.)

1 Tablespoon of fresh fruits (You'll have to try different things to see what your Sugar Glider likes, but some ideas are watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, apple, orange, papaya, mango, banana, strawberry, kiwi, raspberry, blueberry, cucumber, etc..)

1 Tablespoon of fresh vegetables (You'll have to try different things to see what your Sugar Glider likes, but some ideas are carrots, steamed broccoli, spinach, zuchini, tomato, etc...)

6-8 Giant Mealworms EACH (These are available at PetCo. They are necessary in a balanced Sugar Glider Diet. My Gliders prefer Giant Mealworms as opposed to regular or Super Worms.)

Fresh water (should be available in a bowl!)

Daily Staple: (Should be available in cage at all times!)
2 Soaked, Crushed Monkey Biscuits (Available at your Exotic Pet Store, or www.exoticnutrition.com)

A couple times a week!:
1 Water Bottle (50% Apple Juice diluted with 50% water, give this 3-4 times a week)

I thought that you should put  bowl of water in the cage, I've heard that sugar gliders love water and they can drown themselves in a lil bit of water?

I use a bowl with all of my Gliders and have never had an issue of them "drowning" in their water bowl. I've never even seen them put so much as a toe into it. =P
