Mvengro,
Obviously Sugar Gliders need to be introduced and continuously fed a proven diet. The only three proven diets that I recommend are BML, HPW & The Priscilla Price Diet. I've also heard of some people feeding The Suncoast Sugar Glider Diet successfully, I haven't had much experience with it and I've heard both bad and good stories. I wouldn't recommend it.
I would recommend that you feed The Priscilla Price Diet. I've fed both BML and Priscilla's Diet. My Gliders seemed to get really "bored" of BML after a few months and would never finish it. I finally decided to switch to Priscilla's Diet, and I'm so glad I did! They love it and gobble it up as though it's their last meal. This diet (recipe) can be found by logging on to
www.thepetglider.com (The Pet Glider, owned by Priscilla Price) and clicking the link on the left which should read "Nutrition System".
I freeze this diet in icecube trays to make serving a whole lot easier on myself. I have five Sugar Gliders in one cage and two adults (plus two joeys) in the other, but here is a list of what I feed mine each and every evening. If you need more or less, just cut or double the recipe. =)
Cage A (5 Adult Gliders):
2 Cubes of The Priscilla Price Diet (Keeping in mind that I freeze in icecube trays, I'd vary the flavor each night just to keep it fresh. You'll see what I'm talking about when you visit her website.)
2 Tablespoons of Low-Fat "Fruit on the Bottom" Yogurt. (You can also use Cream Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Sour Cream, etc...)
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Fruits (Mango, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Grapes, Apple, Honeydew, Strawberries, Banana, Peaches, Plums, Papaya, Orange, Cucumber, etc...)
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Veggies (Lettuce, Steamed Brocolli, Spinach, Carrots, Zuchini, etc...)
2 Crushed Monkey Biscuits (soaked in fruit juice such as Apple Juice or water mixed with honey)
10-12 Giant Mealworms
Water Bottle filled with 50% Apple Juice diluted with 50% fresh water (fed 3-4 times a week)
Water Bowl filled with Fresh Water (should be replaced every night)
Cage B (2 Adults, 2 Joeys):
1 Cube of The Priscilla Price Diet (Keeping in mind that I freeze in
icecube trays, I'd vary the flavor each night just to keep it fresh.
You'll see what I'm talking about when you visit her website.)
1 Tablespoon of Low-Fat "Fruit on the Bottom" Yogurt. (You can also use Cream Cheese, Cottage Cheese, Sour Cream, etc...)
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Fruits (Mango, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Grapes,
Apple, Honeydew, Strawberries, Banana, Peaches, Plums, Papaya, Orange,
Cucumber, etc...)
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Veggies (Lettuce, Steamed Brocolli, Spinach, Carrots, Zuchini, etc...)
1 Crushed Monkey Biscuit (soaked in fruit juice such as Apple Juice or water mixed with honey)
6-8 Giant Mealworms
Water Bottle filled with 50% Apple Juice diluted with 50% fresh water (fed 3-4 times a week)
Water Bowl filled with Fresh Water (should be replaced every night)
Thanks!
Hope I've helped!
Lauren
