I have a question - i am planning to use the HPW diet and im just wondering if there are any restrictions on other supplimental feeding - as in fruits and veggies, protiens - anything i should avoid feeding them with this diet? i know corn isnt the best for them
i am planning on feeding them the hpw and chicken, mealworms, scrambled eggs, all kinds of fruit - cherries, blueberries, peaches, raspberries, yougurt covered raisins, - no grapes - i heard they arent the best

veggies- only occasionally corn, green beans, peas, broccoli, carrots ect. and yougurt - plain unflavored and baby food that doesnt have onions and salt in it - the fruit and veggie flavored - chicken flavored -

Im assuming all these things are ok to feed in addition to the HPW unless i hear otherwise on here. I dont quite understand the 2:1 ratio stuff regarding fruits and veggies  - so if anyone has a list of good fruits and veggies and bad ones that would be most helpful to me

thanks

april

I have found that they do not like bananas. You should also watch their citrus intake (oranges). They love 'Fruit on the Bottom' flavored yogurt, it has real fruit and not too much fat in it. Obesity has never really been an issue with my gliders though. No onion or garlic powders. My friend feeds her gliders baby food, she hasn't had one live past nine. All the breeders who use proven diets have some gliders living up to thirteen and fourteen! They really love any fruits/veggies. They love grapes, don't worry about that. They also love watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew!

That's odd, mine won't eat anything 'mushy'. But, my Gliders are very picky! Hey, I just noticed that you joined today! Welcome to the board Nate, I'm Lauren!

Welcome!!!!  My gliders love melon.  This time of year they get fresh but in the winter they will put up with frozen bits.  Mine won't eat Bananas either.  They love Avocado but only get it rarely.  They're not too keen on cucumber.   Mine like peas and will eat the center leaving just the round skin.  Same way with Green Beans.

What have you noticed that yours like?
